59/366- Brake

Wanted to get a pic of a frog or something jumping, but oh well. Had to repair my tire so I thought I'd get a pic of the drum brakes. I wanted to make it look like an older photograph, but it didn't work out. The B&W seemed to make it more grungy

55/366- Lightning Highlighted

Was actually trying a different shot. She started to go back in the house, but I called her, and she came back. I really liked the lighting as she came back to me. She then went inside, and I had to call her a few times. She then decided to look towards the fence. I really liked the lighting and the "Retriever" -like pose

54/366- Stream

Took a hike on Skyline Dr. today. I haven't really seen much of this stream as I'm usually not up there after a raining. Was able to find some nice spots where the water looked pleasing enough to shoot. Manual HDR. This month of Digital Camera World had a section on doing Manual HDR through layer masks, so I thought I'd give it a shot, and for my first time, I'm really pleased with it! My only nit is that the water to be cleaner, and the scene less "dirty"... call it atmosphere ;)

Times are: 1, 2, 4, 8, 13secs. I also used a CP to help knock the light down to get longer exposures

52/366- Hockey Players

Went ice skating at Ice Town tonight. Was for my brother's FFA thing. There was a hocky game going so I thought I'd grab some shots before putting my camera in the locker.

I like the moment of impact. This girl had just gotten onto the ice a min before being checked by these two other guys. I think the blur adds to the intensity and excitement.

51/366- Late Work

My GF's dad is working on remodeling their house. Here, he is working on the guest bedroom. I went over to hang out ast night and loved that the window was the only light and the rest was black. Ran back to my truck to get my camera, shot up the ISO to 1600 and took a few shots. HDR in Tone Compressor

46/366- Snowboarder Jump

Went to Snow Valley today to do our sort of annual Scout Snow Day where the scouts can earn Snow Sports merit badge. Dad had to stay behind and teach the kiddies for a while, so I hit up the terrain park to get shots of some boarders and skiers jumping as using some of the obsticles. Got some good ones of this jump and a few of a fun box that I tried too, but didn't have as much action feel to it. I'll have the others up in my blog, perhaps tomorrow.

I like how the image is blurred, yet the boarder is sharp. I also like the snow flying up too. Some of the shots were good actionshots, but the snow coming off makes them better. His pose also made it stand out from the others.

Second fail! Thought I'd be able to go home later this evening and be able to shoot, but I didn't. Good thing I took a picture with my phone when my GF and I were eating at Carls Jr for lunch. If you can guess the reason for the pic, Kudos to you. No, really. You can have a Kudos bar ;P

Did a photoshoot with my friend today. We were doing the shoot in the community park. Walking from one spot, I looked up and saw the lamp and the light from it on the tree, then the Moon. Something about them lining up that pleased me.

41/366- Fan

Was actually trying to shoot another picture which wasn't coming out so well. I decided to use my Speedlight, but it really didn't do what I wanted, but I got a cool glow off my fan. Manually fired my flash behind the fan while the shutter was open. In the saturation window, I desaturated everything but the blue. Then used the contrast slider to really blow out the contrast rendering the grey as almost black. I like the glowing feel it has.

39/366- Spyro Cake

Well, didn't take a "real" picture, so I had to go with the camera on my phone. First fail for me. Friend's birthday party. She decided that her friend and she would make a cake with Spyro on it, a video game character. I think it turned out pretty good.

Obviously, there's no EXIF. Also, it says that the picture was taken on 1-1-1980, lol. I have the correct time, but the date messes up and only says the date it was modified on. You'll just have to trust me that I took it on that day.

38/366- Guitar 3D

Got this guitar 2 yrs ago for my birthday. Mostly play rock but also some metal... at least I TRY to play metal, haha. I'm not too good at it, but it's fun. Movement isn't what I want it to be and really looks only like it's jerking around instead of looking 3D, but it's late and I'm tired, so I'm leaving it how it is.

Girlfriend's dad is a trucker and this is one of his trailers. I'm not sure if it's broken. All I know is that I like the colours on it. Still have the 3D tweaks to figure out though. I might not need to move as much as I think I do, even though this is about a 2" difference if I remember correctly.

36/366- XBox 360 3D

Click on the thumbnail to view the animation.

Another 3D image. This one of my GF's game systems. I never had a need for consols because my friends had them. Saves me money, haha.

Anyways, I'm usually able to do the 2 shots, then go onto the computer and see if it's ok, and if not, I go back and redo it. I was only able to use the LCD to see if it was good and only took 2 tries. However, I was disappointed when I processed it this morning as it really jumps on the right. I have no idea how to control where it rotates from. If it's a camera placement, I though I was ok. I thought that it rotates around where I focus(in this case I focused off the top right corner of the Guitar Hero game). Oh well. This is all I did for the day so I can put up with it.

Click on the thumbnail to view the animation.

A model of a Corsair we have in our living room. If you look at pic 1/366, it's just above the TV.

Corsairs were built by Goodyear from 1940-1953 and served during WWII and the Korean War by the Marines and the Navy. It was the most feared plane in WWII by the Japanese. This is one of my favourite planes.

34/366- Revere 16 Magazine 3D

Click on the thumbnail to view the animation.

Found this Revere 16 Magazine in our living room setup where we keep some knick-knacks. If you look at pic 1/366, it's to the right of the TV. This camera uses 16mm magazine film and uses a Revere-Scienar ANASIGMAT 25mm coated F 2.5 lense. This camera was made between 1940 and 1950.

This was achieved by taking to images focused on the same point but about 2" between locations. In CS3 Extended, added a layer, cropped, and then used the animation tool to get the 2 layers to show very fast, creating the effect of 3D. It took a few tries to dial in the distance, otherwise, this is the first attempt at 3D

I think that for this week I strive to do this 3D imaging.

33/366- Cold Rain

Shot a 3 bracketed exposure. I didn't want to do another HDR shot so I thought I'd try my hand at a quick and easy version of HEC(hybrid exposure compensation) a term coined by BKSecret off the Martin Bailey site. I really liked how the -2 caught the background, but at 0 the temperature gague was good. Copied and pasted 0 over the -2 because I wanted the -2 EXIF. Some erasing of layers and I think I did a decent job.
