30/366- Doll

Went to grandma's house do take some pictures of her dolls. Some of them were my mom's. I used a heating lamp I use for my pet lizard and replaced the bulb with a spiral halogen bulb as the main. I also found that grandma had a 3 way lamp so I could adjust the brightness as the fill. Then had my Speedlight 430EX to round out the lighting a bit. The day before I bought a dark blue and beige bed sheets, but the blue was the best(never changed it out for the beige), from Mervyns. I really don't like to to portraits, but this one was kind of fun. I almost wanted to go out to find a real reflector(I used a piece of white foam core), and a bigger main light or something close to a real studio light, haha. No money

27/366- Abandoned House #2

Found this house on Sun and thought I'd take some pics of it sometime. There was no gate and no signs to be seen. Went into the garage (on the left), but something about it made me feel uneasy. Like stumbling upon someone. Got this one just before leaving. I may go back to this place, and another that is about 100yds to the right, with a few friends to be more on the safe side

Got some heavy rain last night so I thought I'd try to get some rain coming off the roof. Kind of got what I wanted, but I wish it was more clear. Perhaps I'll try using a faster shutter speed at F22.

Dad and I went up Skyline to see if there were any pictures to take. Not much unfortunately. I found a trail that heading in a south direction, I havent been back that far(1/4mi) in more than 5yrs. Decided to go on it and there were a few logs with these fungi on them and I liked the banding pattern.

22/366- Abstract Swirl

Actually shot a gazebo at my brother's HS that I actually started on my Sr. yr there in 04. However, was on manual by accident and overexposed them, even for RAW it was too much over. Found out later in the night and rushed out to get some shots in the rain. Did some shots with the tripod but didn't yield anything I liked so I did some handheld zooms and spinning the camera to get some light trails. Was playing with aformentioned gazebo failure and tried to do some layer stuff, didn't work and went on to my next idea. Ended up overlapping two handheld light trail shots after inverting them and did some erasing thorugh the layers. I didn't plan any of that, just like what transpired as I worked and experimented on them. Got something I really liked.

21/366- CLA building at Cal Poly Pomona

CPP to talk to the head of the engineering dept. I graduate from Riverside Community College and will transfer to CPP. Had to get some questions answered and such. We had some sprinkles and such in Corona, but Pomona just had threatening clouds. This building in interesting as the roof is triagular with the triangular holes as well.

18/366- 1205

Class 12 buggy during the MORE Kartek Dash in Barstow on Sat 19. An 18mi course where the vehicles ran 3.5 and 4 hr races and do as many laps as possible within the time limit. Each race had different classes, the slower classes were first and the faster classes were second. Was a pretty fun race. However, I kick myself because I was shooting on AP and not my usual TV for some reason, so I was shooting around 1/80, lot's of blurred pics and prob threw half out... oh well :(

16/366- Wind Damage

Santa Ana Winds were pretty harsh last night. Forcasted 80mph gusts in canyons and passes, 60mph in valleys- us. We have a 6.5- 7' wrought iron spiral thing that mom keeps some of her smaller plants on as well as a few pretty pots. Well, the wind didn't care how pretty they were :(

Gah! Just realized I didn't stick with my theme! Well... it was movement that made them fall... ;)

15/366- Skater

Went down to my local skate park to keep with my theme, Movement, for the week. Started off with my telescope, 70-300mm, but was having shake issues. The group of kids started to hit a ledge/seat (off to the left off camera) and so I switched to my stock 18-55mm. I had also switched to using my flash seeing that without it, I had shake problems. Exposed enough so that the flash captured the subject fine, yet slow enough to streak and lights, able to see what else is there (instead of subject and blackness behind him), as well as capture the sunset, which I think was looking nice. This was also my very last shot. Saw it in preview and said, "That's it!" I may try more there this afternoon.

11/366- Truggy Night

Dezert Rangers meet and Full Flaunt photoshoot in Ocotillo Wells. I just liked the way this truggy's lights refracted through the dust. I thought the shoot before at Devil's Slide would be short and didn't take my camera, then we came to Shell Reef and the sun was going down and I was kicking myself. Fortunately, The guy I was hanging out with, Gerry, had a camera and let me use it :)

There was a meet for my DezertRangers forum in Temecula on Fri at TGIFridays. Afterwards, at about 11pm, some of us headed to this jump and hit it. Only got 3 of the 10. Good thing I got these because we headed out to Ocotillo Wells at 1130 and didn't get to camp until 1am.
